Cookies Policy

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that websites can send to your computer, tablet or mobile phone. A cookie can be thought of as an internet user’s identification card, which tells a website when the user has returned. Cookies are not computer programs, and can’t read other information saved on your hard drive. They cannot be used to disseminate viruses, or get a user’s e-mail address etc. They only contain and transfer to the website as much information as the users themselves have disclosed to that website.

How long are cookies stored for?

Persistent cookies

These cookies remain on a user's device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies

These cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

Cookies do lots of different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improve the user experience. You can find more information about cookies at and

Cookies used on the Website

A list of the cookies used on our Website is set out below by category:

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies enable services you have specifically asked for.  These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the Website and use its features.

Performance cookies

These cookies collect information about how visitors use our site, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from our web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how the Website works. By using our website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

Functionality cookies

These cookies allow our site to remember the choices you make, like your user name, language or the region you are in. They provide enhanced, more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customize.

They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a post. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites. By using our website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

Third party cookies

These cookies allow third parties to track the success of their application or customise the application for you. We cannot access these cookies because of how they work and the third parties cannot access the data in cookies used on our site. As an example, if you choose to ‘share’ content through social networks you might be sent cookies from these websites. We don't control the setting of these cookies, so please check those websites for more information about their cookies and how to manage them.

Targetting or advertising cookies

These cookies are used to deliver adverts that are more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see a specific advertisement, as well as helping to measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaign. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality and we may use digital marketing organisations to attract new customers to our site.

In order to track where new customers come from the digital marketing organisations provide us with technology such as smart pixels and transparent GIF files. That technology works by recognising a cookie on your web browser, enabling us to identify which advert brought you to us. The technology is not able to identify any of our customers’ personal details.
